Jayson Williams has coached since 2003 at all levels of competitive swimming; USA Swimming, High School, and summer league.
Positive team culture, proper technique, self-accountability, and team spirit are the foundations of Coach Jayson’s philosophy. He coached at Houston Cougars 2012 - 2018 and Houston Bridgebats Team 2018-2022. While coaching for those clubs he’s had swimmers qualify for Age Group Champs, TAGS, Sectionals and Southern Senior Zones, and Olympic Trials. Many of these swimmers and have gone on to swim with Division 1, 2 and 3 college swim programs such as TCU, Grand Canyon University, University of Kansas, and many more. Additionally, Coach Jayson has coached multiple TAGS champions.
Coach Jayson grew up in Houston Texas and swam for South Central YMCA, Harris County Aquatic Program, and Jack Yates High School and received multiple scholarship offers to further his swimming career. Jayson is happy to be coaching for the COOGS as coaching has many rewarding aspects for him such as being able to make a difference and seeing the results immediately as well as long term.

Began his coaching career in 1979 and has coached swimmers at
various levels: summer league, high school, and US club
programs. Currently works with the age-groupers at the COOGS south
location where the emphasis is building correct stroke technique
that provides a solid foundation for future success and love of the
sport. In his day job he is an astronaut trainer, teaching
International Space Station crews how to exercise in
microgravity.
The best part about being on the Coog Coaching staff are fellow
coaches he’s privileged to work with and, of course, the
athletes who train in the program.
Gabriella Alas grew up in Houston, Texas and has been coaching since 2014. She has swam for Maplewood Marlins, Rice Aquatics, Homeschool Christian Youth Association, and Dad’s Club. In addition to swimming and coaching, she taught swim lessons focusing on the goals and improving the skills of each swimmer.
Gabriella is currently in her senior year at the University of Houston studying Nutrition. Coach Gabby is very adamant when it comes to the proper technique of each stroke, nutrition, discipline, positivity, and teamwork. With her previous coaching experience and commitment, Gabriella continues to impact the swimming community positively and nurture the next generation of talented swimmers, shaping their paths towards both personal and competitive success in and out of the water.
Coach Armstrong has been involved in AAU and USA swimming for the past 40 years, both as an competitor and a coach. He was an age group state champion swimmer in Indiana and Kentucky. Jeff came to COOG's from Jeffco Hurricanes after 15 years as the Head Coach in Colorado. Jeff was at Phoenix Swim Club as a Senior Assistant Coach, Prior to Phoenix, he was the Head Age Group Coach of Williamsburg Aquatic Club (WAC) in Virginia. Prior to WAC, he was the Head Age Group Coach at Tiger Aquatics in Stockton, California and an Assistant Coach with Pacific University aquatic program (UOP).
Jeff has produced several state champions, national top 16, sectional swimmers, Jr’s & Sr’s qualifiers and Olympic Trials throughout his career. He was selected as a California Zone coach in the summer of 2000 and as a Virginia Zone coach in the summer of 2005. He was awarded Colorado Coach of the Year in 2010. In 2005 he was runner-up in Virginia’s Age Group Coach of the year voting. Coach Armstrong received a Bachelor of Science degree in Police Administration and a minor in Physical Education from Eastern Kentucky University
